As many of you know, I love cool graphic design tools. It makes my life
much easier when I can use a tool to do something in minutes that might
normally take me hours to create, especially complex graphic images.
There are many, many, many choices of tools to create ebook covers and
software boxes. Most fall into two different camps: PhotoShop action templates
or software tools that generate 3D images by themselves. If you have the money
to purchase PhotoShop and are talented enough to use it, then purchasing
action collections is the preferred path to take. However, if you are
graphically challenged, a less expensive, more turnkey solution is required.

Quick
3D Cover is one of the most amazing products I have seen in this
product category. Why? First, it is currently priced at $49.95 which is about
half the price of its competitors.
Second, with Quick
3D Cover, you load your product images (front, side, back) once, and
then click on the different product options to immediately preview them in
real-time. No delays. It's like browsing through an image catalog.
Third, Quick
3D Cover comes with close to 100 different product shots ranging from
the familiar book or software box (with many variations) to the uncommon such
as combination shots of DVD cases and DVD, iPhones, monitors, clipboards and
much more. Check out the samples below:
Now there's a fourth reason why Quick
3D Cover kicks ass: it has a batch mode which enables you to create as
many different product shots as you desire. Just load your images once, click
a button and walk away. In minutes, Quick
3D Cover will generate almost 100 different product shots.

In July 2009, Nerve Preserve released Version 2.0 as a free
upgrade to existing customers (love companies that do this -- builds loyalty
big-time!). This new version includes a cover designer module:

With this design module, you may select ready-made designs and
apply them individually to covers, spines, tops or CD faces. You can see a
preview of what the images will look like on the template option buttons. The
designs are contemporary and somewhat simple, but they sure beat clip-art. You
can easily add text to any portion of the templates you desire. This is a
welcomed option and makes this more of a turnkey design product than it was
before.
Of course, you'll still need to create your front cover, side
panels and back covers in a separate graphics program (hey, Quick
3D Cover is cool but it can't do everything!). Or you could hire an
artist to create these individual components for you and then use them to
create unlimited product shots yourself instead of paying the designer $97.00
per image. To learn more about Quick
3D Cover, go here
