When this one crossed my desk, I thought to myself, "Lordy, not
another popup tool." Yeah, sometimes I say things like "Lordy".
Anyway, When I saw the tool was from PHP expert, Robert Plank, I sat up and
decided to give it a whirl. Robert creates unique marketing tools and makes
PHP easy to understand and implement.
Action Popup
fills an interesting niche. It pulls together features from several different
tools and puts them all together into one tool.
Now this is not a piece of software with a wizard that walks you through
the customization of your popup one step at a time. Rather there are five
small PHP script files that comprise Action
Popup. You need to be able to edit them with a text editor such as
Windows NotePad.
Each of the files is well commented and shows you where and what to
customize depending upon how you want to use Action
Popup on your own site. There is also a manual and three brief videos
which walk you through the process of implementing the script on your own web
site. I know many people, including myself, tend to approach PHP with a
ten-foot pole. Have no fear, Robert is near.
His chatty documentation shows you that all you really need to do is copy
and paste your autoresponder code into one file and then copy and paste one
line into your web page. That's it. You're done. I know you can do it and so
could I.
Now what makes Action
Popup different is the following:
- You can add your own autoresponder code very easily
- You can set special effects for the popup so it fades in, bounces,
shakes, etc.
- You have total control over placements, size, speed, etc.
- A transparent background covers your original page -- they can still see
it and will return to it but the popup appears over it while it is active
- The popup can pass the first name from the autoresponder form back to
your web page enabling you to now personalize the web page with the visitor's
name -- this is a very powerful sales technique
This ability to both grow your subscriber list and personalize your web
page at the same time is very cool, and need I say, very simple to use. So if
you want to learn more please visit the Action
Popup site here.
